2019

The Arabella and The Heist story starts at the end of 2019 when singer/ songwriter Holly Arabella formed a band to support her solo work. The band consisted of Joe Humphries, who was new to the Melbourne music scene after moving down from the Sunshine Coast, Luke Stash on drums and Dan Wanden on the bass. The band would play their first show under the Holly Arabella name on the 31st of October 2018 at the Grace Darling.

2020

Combining the influences of the new band members, the sound began to evolve into a heavier and more gritty rock and roll sound. The performances began to gain energy and the band decided to rename themselves to Arabella and The Heist in January.

Performing shows at venues across Melbourne such as The Workers Club, The Tote, Cherry Bar and Last Chance Rock and Roll Bar and the bands debut single 'Mother' was scheduled for release mid-way through the year.

COVID

As COVID-19 restrictions sent the Melbourne music scene into government enforced lockdowns, the band hurried to finish the single at Black Pearl Studios in Moorabbin. The single was released on May 10th.

During the lockdowns, the Heist returned to the studio to complete three singles to be released over the next year. The songs recorded were 'What's The Plan?', 'Boys' and 'Knew It Too Well'.

New bass player, Drew Hammond was added to the lineup and the band was met by packed out rooms at the Tote by the end of 2021, plans were then made for an EP the following year.

2022

2022 began with a writing trip up to Noosa for the band to write and conceptualise the next EP. The tracks written where then taken and recorded by the band in their home studio. Noah Redfern would join the band on drums for the next few months as they played shows across Melbourne. In April the band signed to Coastal Fever Records and began a partnership with the label to release the 'steal' EP. The single 'Knew It Too Well' was also released under the new label as a vault file on Bandcamp.

The band played their landmark Cherry Bar show on the 6th of May and the release date for the new EP is set as the 7th of July 2022. The leading single off the EP 'Alice' was released on the 28th of June.

Meet The Heist

DREW HAMMOND

Bass

The Heist needed someone to be lookout, back up driver and muscle if needed. Timing and alertness are key, this bassman has it all and more. Man of very few words, rarely speaks but when he does, be sure to listen as it is guaranteed to be of high importance. Most likely to start a fight with himself.

HOLLY ARABELLA

Lead Singer

Brains and beauty of the operation, tasked with recruiting a crack team due her destroying of enemy lines with her vocal prowess and ability to lead. Will ransom you for anything leopard print. Most likely to "rehome" your house plants.

JOE HUMPHRIES

Guitar/Keys

Safes don't open themselves. Indroducing the safe cracker, nimble fingers, an ear for audio clues most don't pick up and a habit of supplying the gear the rest of the crew requires. Laying down the riffs for the Heist, requiring only to be to be told where to go and what to do, this man is here to take your gold. Most likely to leave a trail of guitar pics wherever he goes.
